[NATION] 31th AUGUST: Malaysia celebrates 57th Merdeka Day

KUALA LUMPUR: At Merdeka Square, Malaysians demonstrated the spirit of being loyal to country to celebrate the 57th anniversary of the country's independence although the two tragedies of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370 and MH17 was happened. 

To instill the feeling of love for the country among all Malaysians, themed “Malaysia…Di sini Lahirnya Sebuah Cinta” (Malaysia… Here Where Love Grows) appear and the parade started at 8 am as soon as Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah arrived.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah (king) were welcomed by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, the Prime Minister  with his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, saluted before Royal Malay Regiment's main band played Negaraku.

At the iconic Dataran Merdeka, former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Deputy Prime Minister Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Cabinet Ministers, and foreign leaders as well as other dignitaries were present with Malaysians to observe a moment of silence in prayers for fallen soldiers who had fought for the country's independence and  the country's patriots.

Dataran Merdeka was estimated flocked by 400,000 people and its surrounding areas to join the national-level celebration and watch the Merdeka Day parade.



Malaysians were celebrated Merdeka Day at Dataran Merdeka.
