The Mojo News: [WORLDWIDE] The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

WORLDWIDE - The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has been going viral around the social medias lately and with the help of celebrities; pop stars, actors, athletes, politicians as well as millions of ordinary people around the world. It’s hard to not be aware of this viral trend.

The creator Corey Griffin, a philanthropist who made the ALS ice bucket challenge fund raising go viral had died after drowning in a diving accident off the coast of Nantucket, Massachusetts. Griffin reportedly donated an amount of $100,000 at a charity event hours before his death.

The ice bucket challenge is when you’re nominated by a friend or colleague, you only have 24 hours to either post a video of pouring a bucket of ice on your heard or donate $100 to the charity fund. In return you get to nominate another 3 challengers to do the same. This is to raise funds for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), which is well known as Lou Gehrig disease’s research and raise the awareness of this disease.

Hollywood stars that had taken the challenge thus so far include Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Dwayne Johnson (The Rock), Tom Cruise, Hugh Jackman (X-Men), Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga etc. On the other hand, famous K-pop artists G-Dragon (Big Bang), Suho (EXO), Yong Jun Hyung (BEAST) also showed their supports by taking part in this fund raising event as well as giving donation to the ALS association.

Former U.S. President George. W Bush also uploaded his video to his Facebook page thanking his friends for nominating him to participate in this challenge. Basketball superstar Lebron James, had also took part in this challenge and nominated President Obama to participate in the ice bucket challenge. President Obama did not only donated to the organisation but had also accepted the ice bucket challenge.
